If you'll need to migrate your Google at IU My Drive data because of changes to Google Storage, your options will include those listed below. For help understanding what types of files you have, see Determine whether your files are individual (personal) or institutional.

To view your total Google at IU usage, go to https://drive.google.com/settings/storage. Be sure you are logged into your Google at IU account, and not a personal Google account. To be sure, you could use a private browser.

Microsoft OneDrive at IU (for individual data) or Microsoft Teams (for institutional data)
  • No individual files larger than 250 GB
  • 5 TB limit for Microsoft OneDrive
  • 25 TB limit for a Team
Scholarly Data Archive
  • No cost up to 50 TB
  • $.02/GB after 50 TB
  • Contact Research Storage (store-admin@iu.edu)
  • Good for cold storage/files not used frequently
  • No individual files larger than 10 TB (increasing to 20 TB soon)
  • Maximum file limit: 25,000 files
  • Collaboration across institutions requires affiliate accounts
Geode
  • Good for regularly accessed files
  • Maximum file limit: 8,000 files/GB
  • Extremely fast when accessed using campus Ethernet
  • Collaboration across institutions requires affiliate accounts
Google
  • $48/GB
  • Purchased from vendor in 100 GB increments per full year
  • Available summer/fall 2022
  • Allows for data to remain in Google with collaboration tools
  • For Google My Drive, requires move to Google Shared Drives
  • No individual files larger than 5 TB
  • Unlimited overall size, but with limits on numbers of files (currently 400,000), daily uploads, etc.
  • Available to departments only
