Connect to the IU wireless network with Windows 10 Mobile or Windows Phone 8.1 or 8

Windows 10 Mobile is no longer receiving security updates from Microsoft as of December 10, 2019. Microsoft has ended support for Windows Phone and recommends that customers move to a supported Android or iOS device. For details, see Windows 10 Mobile End of Support: FAQ.
eduroam is replacing IU Secure as the default wireless network for students, faculty, staff, and affiliates on all IU campuses, and you can use it now. UITS will retire IU Secure in the fall of 2020.

To configure your device to connect to eduroam or IU Secure:

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. In Windows 10 Mobile, tap Network and Wireless, then Wi-Fi. In Windows Phone 8.1 or 8, tap Wi-Fi.
  3. Tap the network name (eduroam or IU Secure).
  4. Sign in with your primary IU email address for eduroam, or your IU username for IU Secure, and your IU passphrase.
  • If you can't connect to the wireless network, make sure that you are using your primary IU email address (for eduroam) or your IU username (for IU Secure). UITS testing has revealed that invalid logins are a prime reason people have trouble connecting. If you suspect that you entered your information incorrectly, try forgetting and re-adding the network.
  • When you try to connect for the first time, you may be prompted to accept a new security certificate. Verify that the certificate is issued by "InCommon RSA Certification Authority", and click OK or Connect. If you continue to experience issues, see About the IU wireless certificate for eduroam and IU Secure.
  • If you have problems with your initial connection to IU Secure and are using Windows, macOS, or iOS, you can download the IU Secure Setup Wizard, a tool that will create your wireless profile. The tool is also available via IUware (Windows and Mac). The tool will not help with signal or stability issues, and in most cases, following the automatic or manual configuration steps for your device should be sufficient. If you continue to have problems, remove any previous IU Secure profiles; see Remove a configuration profile in iOS or macOS.
  • Be sure your device has the latest updates to its wireless software.
  • If your device does not support WPA2 Enterprise, you will be unable to connect.
