Support resources for IU Intelligent Infrastructure and storage and virtualization

On this page:

Overview

IU Intelligent Infrastructure (II) is a suite of services provided by the Enterprise Systems division of UITS. II offers remote access to the same high performance and high-availability hardware and security devices UITS uses to deliver mission-critical university applications and services.

The Storage and Virtualization group supports infrastructure services for the following areas: server virtualization (VMware ESX), storage area network (disk and NAS), and data backup and recovery products (Commvault).

Storage and Virtualization support contacts

Note:
The Storage and Virtualization (SAV) ServiceNow and email queues are monitored Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with response times prioritized according to the terms of the Service Level Expectations (SLE). If you require assistance for a production emergency during or after business hours, contact Computer Operations at 812-855-9910 and request to have an SAV team member paged.

For requests and questions about virtual machines (VMs):

  • For all VM-related requests or questions, contact the Storage and Virtualization team at sav-request@iu.edu.
    Note:
Upgrades or downgrades of CPU, memory, and storage resources can be requested at any time and usually require your VM to be rebooted. If you need to perform an upgrade outside of business hours, staff will work with your schedule as much as possible. Please provide at least 48 hours' notice.
  • SAV communicates notifications to VM administrators via the VMADMIN-L mailing list. To stay informed about potential system maintenance events, join the list; see:

For all requests or questions about Data Protection Services, contact the Storage and Virtualization team at sav-request@iu.edu.
