Problems logging into CAS

At Indiana University, the CAS (Central Authentication Service) login service allows you to access multiple IU computing systems after entering your IU username and password only once on a central authentication server. This is often referred to as single sign-on.

Parents or guardians cannot log in through CAS to view student information. For a parent or guardian to be able to view a student's information, the student must first assign third-party access to the parent or guardian. Once authorized for third-party access, parents or guardians should follow the instructions in Use a third-party account to view a student's personal information.

Login issues

  • IU username and passphrase: If you cannot log into CAS using your IU credentials, try resetting your passphrase.

    If the problem persists, your IU ADS domain account may be locked for some reason; see If your ADS domain account is locked.

    To have your ADS account unlocked immediately or request additional troubleshooting, contact your campus Support Center.

  • IU Guest account: If you cannot log into CAS using your IU Guest account credentials, try changing or resetting your Guest account password:
    1. Go to Guest Accounts in One.IU, and click Start.

    2. On the left, click change your Guest password, and then follow the on-screen prompts.

    If the problem persists, contact an IU campus Support Center for help.

  • IU Extranet account: If you cannot log into CAS using your IU Extranet account, contact your IU campus Support Center for help.
