Being successful means having the right tools. Follow these tips to get started with tech at IU.

Online learning

Keep learning. In the event of prolonged campus or building closures, keep learning with key tips and resources to help you make the shift to learning online. keeplearning.iu.edu

Make the switch to eduroam. Eduroam is the secure wireless network for all of IU. wifi.iu.edu

Get IT support when you need it. The UITS Support Center (phone, email, and ITHelpLive chat) and the IU Knowledge Base - are available 24/7. Campuses also offer in-person support. kb.iu.edu/d/abxl

Visit the Student Center. The Student Center is an online hub where you can access class planning software, view financial aid information, register for classes, and much more. kb.iu.edu/d/amhe

Check email on the go. Synchronize your phone and other devices to stay in touch wherever you are. kb.iu.edu/d/apqh

Store your files. At IU, you have options to store all your important files. kb.iu.edu/d/bgws

Learn to use the latest tech tools. Online courses, webinars, special events, and discounted training from leading vendors are available to learn the latest tech tools. ittraining.iu.edu

AskIU (almost anything). Contact AskIU whenever you need directions to campus locations, information about a sporting or artistic event, or an answer to a general question about any IU campus. kb.iu.edu/d/ayec.

Print from anywhere, to anywhere. Send your project to print from your computer, cell phone, or tablet, then pick it up from any printer on campus with a swipe of your CrimsonCard. kb.iu.edu/d/bfan

Get your game on. We've even got a network for your gaming console and media devices. kb.iu.edu/d/bggt

Save money on hardware and software. As an IU student, you get perks like exclusive deals on computers and accessories. Need software? Find great titles for no cost like Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office. Use IUanyWare to stream or IUware to download. kb.iu.edu/d/antk

Get unlimited access to standard images. Adobe Stock offers images and other assets for the IU community, many of them at no cost to you. kb.iu.edu/d/bgqg

Never share your passphrase. Set up third-party access to allow someone else to see your personal IU info or pay your bursar bill. kb.iu.edu/d/auoz

Use the Duo Mobile app. The easiest, most secure way to complete a Two-Step Login. When you enroll your iOS or Android device for Two-Step Login, set up the Duo Mobile app. It works even when you don't have a network connection. Once your device is enrolled, choose “Send Me a Push” when logging in. Check "Remember me for 7 days" and add a backup device just in case. go.iu.edu/duoapp

Guard against Zoombombing. Keep uninvited participants out of your Zoom meetings. kb.iu.edu/d/ativ

Keep your account safe. Use a passcode on your cell phone. Set your phone to auto lock after inactivity, or after 10 incorrect attempts. Watch for phishing and report any suspicious email. The IU Security Center has tools to keep your accounts safe. kb.iu.edu/d/hack

Sign up for emergency alerts. IU Notify will alert you in the event of a campus emergency. Set up how you receive notifications via call, text, or email, or in any combination. go.iu.edu/notify

Student life

Zoom through group projects. Zoom lets you create a personalized online meeting room to share presentations, images, video chat, and screen share with up to 100 people at a time. Most online classes are conducted via Zoom. zoom.iu.edu

Use the IU Mobile app. Find everything from bus routes to advising appointments, all in one place. iu.edu/mobile-app

Find everything you need for class, in one spot. Never lose your class syllabus, miss an announcement, or forget a due date with Canvas, IU's learning management software. canvas.iu.edu

Get push notifications about upcoming assignments. Boost is an Android and iOS app that works with Canvas to send you personalized information about your schoolwork so you never miss a deadline. kb.iu.edu/d/atud

Record your name. The NameCoach tool in Canvas helps instructors and students learn how to pronounce others' names. Record your own name and listen to others'. kb.iu.edu/d/appu

Keep your key to campus with you. CrimsonCard provides access to essential university services, like printing, meal plans, libraries, and secure entry to campus buildings. You can also deposit funds on your CrimsonCard and use it as payment on campus and at participating local retailers. crimsoncard.iu.edu
